![]() ![]() After Carol abruptly breaks up with Michael in front of the whole office, Dwight, Andy (his first Christmas with the Scranton branch!), and Jim bring him to Benihana to cheer him up and end up back at the office with two waitresses. The first hour-long episode of the series, ‘A Benihana Christmas’ is solid. That plan goes to shit, however, when Michael, upset over the gift Phyllis made for him (a hand-knitted oven mitt) changes the game to Yankee Swap in the hopes that he can get the iPod back. While this episode doesn’t have many laugh out loud moments, it brings us back to the good old days of The Office and that nostalgia is enough to earn ‘Christmas Party’ the #3 spot on the list. After drawing Pam in secret Santa, Jim decides it’s time to tell her how he really feels with a note enclosed in the teapot he bought her. Jim and Pam’s will-they-won’t-they had not yet gotten stale and Michael’s assholey-ness was at its peak when he used his holiday bonus to get Ryan an iPod, ignoring the $20 gift limit. Not much else happens in this one, but there are enough one liners to nab “Moroccan Christmas” the number 4 spot on the list.Īt a point in the series’ run where it was at one of its strongest, ‘Christmas Party’ is a classic. Unfortunately, too much screen time for the dull subplots (Jim’s Philly job, an upset Darryl getting smashed off gluhwein, Erin and whats-his-name watching Die Hard) put ‘Dwight Christmas’ at number 5.ĭwight has a stockpile of the season’s must have gift, Princess Unicorn (her horn can pierce the sky!) and Michael holds and intervention for Meredith’s alcoholism. Dwight dressing up as Belsnickel and judging the office workers’ years as “impish or admirable” is reminiscent of the show’s best days. When the Party Planning Committee forgets to plan Christmas, Dwight proposes that the office celebrates the holiday the traditional Pennsylvania Dutch way. ‘Dwight Christmas’ would have fallen in with the rest of the pack if it weren’t for Rainn Wilson’s hysterical performance. The final two seasons were a jumble of hit or miss episodes with major story arcs that really weren’t all that interesting. While important plot-wise to the future of the show, ‘Secret Santa’ isn’t a very enjoyable Christmas episode.Īfter Steve Carell’s departure at the end of season 7, The Office struggled to find its footing. Michael gets a call from David Wallace and learns that Dunder Mifflin has been sold and fears for everyone’s jobs. ‘Secret Santa’ starts off strong with Michael trying to outdo Phyllis as the office Santa, but loses momentum about halfway through. Season 8 overall was relatively week, so it comes as no surprise that it’s Christmas episode, ‘Christmas Wishes’ is last on the list. Down two main characters, the episode focuses too much on Andy as the new regional manager and his relationship with Erin. ![]() ‘Christmas Wishes’ marks the first holiday episode of The Office without Michael Scott. Here’s all of The Office Christmas specials ranked from worst to best! ![]() While the series went through its ups and downs, the holiday specials were pretty consistently on point. Throughout its impressive 9 season run The Office aired a Christmas episode almost every year. ![]()
